FIRST LEGO League Explore is a non-competitive robotics program designed for lower elementary students. The program is a STEM (science, technoloyg, engineering, and math) program that uses LEGO elements to introduce real-world scientific problems. Explore is designed to be hands-on and fun, and to help kids develop skills like teamwork, design, programming, and communication.

Teams of up to four children work together to explore a scientific problem such as energy, recycling, or transportation, through critical thinking and imagination. They also learn programming with a robotics set and create a motorized LEGO model to illustrate their discoveries.

In their season end festival, teams share their learning with reviewers who ask questions about their model, poster, coding, and teamwork.
